Anders Ericson
Anders Ericson is a freelance luteplayer and recording producer based in Stockholm.
Anders was born in Karlsborg, Sweden where he started
playing classical and electric guitar at the age of 8. He took up the
Baroque lute aged 17, and studied lute and continuo at the Royal
College of Music in Stockholm and at the College of Music in Malmö. Anders has received several major grants from the Royal Academy of Music in
Stockholm.
Anders has performed in more than 30 countries, including Australia, Japan and the African and North American continents, as well as recording CD's and
appearing on national television and radio in several countries. He has
accompanied prominent soloists such as Anne Sofie von Otter and Barbara
Hendricks on CD. Anders appears regurlarly in opera productions, for
instance at the Copenhagen Royal Opera, the Gothenburg Opera and the Drottningholm Opera. He
plays continuo with Scandinavian ensembles Göteborg
Baroque, Concerto
Copenhagen, The Harmony of Voices, Norska Barocksolister, Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble, Tre
Kronor Baroque Ensemble and Westra Aros Pipare.
Playing electric guitar and contemporary music on the lute has always been
a natural counterpart to baroque music making. Anders has made many first
performances of works by different composers, both in Sweden and
elsewhere. He also teaches the lute in Stockholm.
As a solo lute player, Anders has put his main focus on the French Baroque
lute school of the 17th century, from the early composers of accord noveau music
to the fully mature style of Gallot and Mouton. Anders' first solo CD
with music by Pinel, Mercure and Dufault was recorded in may 2009. Release is scheduled to later this year.
